5 Things to Consider Apart from the Commercial Pilot Licence Cost When Searching for Flight Schools

When searching for a flight school so you can follow your dreams of becoming a commercial pilot for a major airline, there are more things to consider than just the commercial pilot licence cost. It can be the first thought we jump to, however, there is a whole lot more to look into when becoming a pilot.

Choosing the right flight school makes a world of difference, so here are five things to consider when searching for flight schools, apart from the commercial pilot licence cost:

1.) Understand the Reason Why you want to Become a Pilot

As different pilot licences have different outcomes, it’s crucial to understand the reason why you are wanting to become a pilot before spending your money on enrolling into a flight school. Do you want to become a pilot as a career? If so, then a commercial pilot licence is the right choice as it will teach you everything you’ll need to know. However, if you’re more interested in flying for the pure enjoyment, then consider looking into a private pilot licence or recreational pilot licence course before deciding and pulling out your wallet.

2.) Make Sure you are Eligible First

Before thinking about the commercial pilot licence cost, you first have to make sure you are eligible. You must have completed and obtained your class 1 Medical, as it is required to show that you are medically and physically fit to pilot a commercial aircraft before you can commence your flight training. In Australia, you can start your training earlier, but you must be at least 18 years of age on the date you receive your commercial pilot licence.

3.) Look into the Experience of their Flight Instructors

The last thing you want to find out after paying the commercial pilot licence cost is that your flight instructors have limited flight time experience. To make you receive the best learning experience, make sure the flight school has experienced flight instructors. Grade 1 flight instructors are the highest qualification level and many flight schools will provide information about their flight instructors on their website.

4.) Research the Facilities they Offer

Since studying a commercial pilot licence isn’t exactly cheap, you will want to make sure that they can provide a range of the latest facilities to get the most out of your flight training. Search online for a flight school that can provide facilities such as flight simulators, libraries, student lounges and lecture rooms. This also includes their aircraft fleet, which should contain state-of-the-art features including autopilot, LCD screen flight instruments, leather seats, glass cockpits and more.

5.) Find out about their Safety Standards

Lastly and most importantly, ask about the safety rating of the flight school you are interested in. A good flight school should have a solid organisational structure that includes designated safety officers, and well organised safety oriented policies and procedures.

Once you have identified a flight school that meets your needs, then you can look into the commercial pilot licence cost. So, keep these tips in mind and you’ll be much more prepared when the time comes to enrol.
