Cleaning techniques and frequency vary from household to household, depending on the number of people living in a house, the activities done daily and just about the amount of dirt and clutter brought in by everyone. We learn about cleaning techniques that can help this household chore be done quicker and more efficiently. However, many cleaning products and disinfectants may contain chemicals that can be unsafe to your family’s health and harmful for the environment. So, what if we give you some cleaning techniques that are natural, thrifty, good for the health and environment-friendly – and the ingredients can be found right in your kitchen cupboard?

1. Clean Mini Blinds with Vinegar

Vinegar is an excellent disinfectant and cleaning agent that can be used to wipe out stubborn gunk and dirt build up on the most corner parts of your home. While you can wipe away dirt on open spaces around your home, window sills and mini blinds may be silently accumulating dirt that can build up and eventually surprise you.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of white vinegar, or depending space needed to be cleaned
  • 3-4 Q-tips

Dab the q-tip on vinegar and wipe at these corners to take away the dirt build up. This will clean and disinfect the area while also preventing bacteria build up.

2. Use Essential Oil for a Sparkling Toilet

Natural oils such as olive oil, lemon oil and tea tree oils have excellent health benefits for the body. On another level, they can also be used as an effective cleaning agent for toilets.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 15 drops of tea tree oil
  • 15 drops of lemon oil

Mix the three ingredients together thoroughly to form a substance. Pour the substance in the toilet bowl and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then water it down and scrub the area.

Whether the stain is still wet or dry, pour vodka onto it and let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wash off with clear water.

Stainless steels such as oven and faucets can have grease build up over time and these types are challenging to remove. Not only are they greasy, but the small can be unpleasing – but nothing a lemon cannot remove.

Ingredients:

  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice
