Remove Carpet Stains

Let’s face it, no matter how careful you were in the hope that no carpet stains or accident will ever compromise your beautiful carpet; a mishap could occur like your beloved pet couldn’t hold it anymore, accidentally spill a glass of wine, or finger-paint artwork from your 2-year-old.

The stains could be caused by a couple of factors that are different. Therefore, you need to get to know the various techniques and procedures you can use to remove any stain on your carpet. Below are some of the useful tips on removing carpet stains.

1.     Coffee and tea stains

Coffee and tea stains are some of the most common stains that can be unavoidable. Fortunately, they are easy to remove if you use the right ingredient. Most of the coffee or tea stain can leave behind brown or yellow discolored spots on your carpet.

You can use white vinegar to remove this type of stain. First, soak a paper towel or clean cloth in detergent and dab it onto the spot for few minutes to soak up excess moisture. After, dip another paper towel in vinegar and dab on the stained spot keeping it pressed for some time. Then, wash the area with a towel soaked in tepid water and repeat this until all the stains vanish.

2.     Pet stains

Pet stains are the most common causes of pet stains. To remove this type of carpet stain, you first need to clean up the real mess. If the sport is wet, clean the extra wetness and moisten the area if it is dry.

Now make a mixture with equal parts of warm water and white vinegar. Then apply this mixture to the soiled spot and leave it to dry. Now, add some baking soda and a mixture of dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide to it and rub over the stain.

3.     Oil and greasy stain

If you have spilled grease or oil, you should initially blot the stained spot with a paper towel. Then, apply alcohol directly on the stain by blotting, using a washcloth. Next, take a mixture of dishwashing liquid and water and apply it directly on the stained spot with a sponge. Repeat this process until the stain disappear.

4.     Ink markers stain

Dab the ink stain with either rubbing cheap lacquer hairspray or alcohol. Then use a white towel to blot the spot. You should see the ink color transferring from the carpet to the cloth. If some of the stains remain on the carpet, repeat the process using more alcohol or hairspray. However, while this process can significantly reduce the ink markers stain, permanent markers are a stubborn stain to remove, so you might still see some traces of ink.

5.     Bloodstains

You can loosen blood that has dried by starting with a wire brush to remove part of it. Then, use a dish soap solution with cold water to blot and clean. Remember that you should only treat blood stains with cold water because hot water may cause the blood stain to set permanently.

If repeated blotting and cleaning with a dish soap mixture doesn’t do the trick, mix a tablespoon of ammonia with a half cup of water. Then, use a sponge or cloth to apply the solution on the blood stain. Blot until the solution is absorbed fully. And lastly, use a sponge dipped in cold water on the area of the stain and blot until it dry.

6.     Red wine stain

In the instance you have a red wine stain, blot the spill with a paper towel or damp cloth. The idea is to remove as much wine from the carpet as possible. You should also dilute any wine that remains with cold water using a towel or cloth. And after about 10 minutes, you should vacuum the area. If you have a stubborn stain, you can repeat this process until all the stain has been removed.

7.     Chocolate stain

For starter, scrape off most of the dried chocolate, then vacuum the stained spot to remove the remaining flakes. Once the spot has been cleaned, cover the area with paper towels and set your iron to the lowest non-steam setting.

Then, move the warm iron slowing over the paper towels. This process will make the chocolate melt and stick to the towel. If there is still a chocolate stain on the carpet, replace the paper towels with clean ones, and allow them to absorb the remaining chocolate.
