How To Stop Feeling Anxious

1. Reduce Your News Intake

While you should certainly keep up with what's going on in the world and it's understandable to want to do so, you shouldn't make it compulsive. Constantly checking the news and seeing everything wrong happening in the world is only going to upset you. Try to avoid the news whenever possible throughout the day when you are most vulnerable to mood fluctuations. This is especially true in the morning and before going to sleep.

2. Try To Control What You Can Control

You want to focus on the things in your life that can control. Focusing on things that are within your means to control is key. You can do this by establishing routines. This can give your day the structure you need. Keep in mind, there are going to be things that are happening all around you that cannot be controlled. However, you will always have the ability to respond to those stimuli a certain way. This will give you the empowerment you might need to calm your anxiety.

3. Be Kind To Yourself

You want to give yourself the time you need throughout the day. By giving yourself some "me" time every day, you can give yourself better and healthier boundaries. You don't need to feel guilty about prioritizing yourself. You want to be certain that you are putting yourself and your health and wellbeing before everything else. This way, you can put yourself in a position to live a healthy life.

4. Focus On Being Mindful

You want to focus on being mindful when you are looking to reduce anxiety. Focusing on your senses and what you are experiencing at the moment is going to help you truly appreciate what's going on in your life. This can help you relax and learn how to reduce your anxiety naturally.

5. Take Deep Breaths

Breathing is one of the most powerful things you can do in your daily life to combat anxiety and feelings of anxiousness. Breathing is so effective because it controls your body's natural reaction to things. This is generally why you begin to experience shortness of breath when you are having an anxiety attack. By breathing deeply, you can trick your brain into being relaxed which can reduce anxiety.

6. Be Willing To Cope With Uncertainty

If you are constantly getting yourself carried away with imaging all of the things that can go wrong, it's going to drive you crazy. You are only going to become an increasingly anxious person by doing so. Try to avoid the "what ifs" and come to terms with the fact that you will never know everything. When you have a negative thought come into your thought process, you can just flip it on its head and think about all of the things that could go right instead.

8. Manage Your Stress Levels

You want to look at what things stress you out and try to avoid them. Keep track of what is constantly increasing your stress levels and look to avoid them entirely. Try to exercise more and fix your diet to manage your stress better. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol is another thing you can do to reduce your stress.
