New Age Materials Of The 21st Century

We live in an age where innovation is ripe, and it is no wonder the most advanced of techniques are also used in construction and building. One such material which is being used in almost every single building is something called the fibre cement, an invention from the late 80s, which did not gain prominence until recently.

Have you been looking for materials to use on your building? Cannot decide which one is the best for your home or office? Look no further than fibre cement. It is a composite which works best on roofs and facades. The material is extremely strong and highly durable; it can resist all sorts of weather impacts and can last you for a very long time. The material is a mixture of cement and fibre, which enhances the strength of the cement. It can also be used for cladding purposes and hence, this makes the material have a high commercial value.

There are mainly two types of fibre cement: the James Hardie and Scyon. Let us take a more in-depth look at these materials and see which one might be better suited for you.

James Hardie fibre cement sheet

This particular type of cement was invented in the 1980s as an alternative to asbestos free cement, as the former material was causing health concerns and the structure of the buildings was filled with it. The Hardie cement constitutes of sand, Portland cement, water and cellulose fibre from pine trees. It also contains some minor additives which add to the strength of the cement. This unique blend creates a host of advantages which are not seen in products. The first is that it is entirely fire resistant, thus no more worries about your buildings burning down to the ground. Another advantage is the fact that it also resists water and termite damage, and it also does not warp due to weather or rot over time.

Scyon fibre cement

This is an invention which combines the physical properties of the James Hardie cement and adds to it. The advanced manufacturing process enhanced CLD technology allows the material to be extremely thick, yet light and makes the sheets easy to cut, nail and install in spaces. It is the same strength as other fibre cement, but with its ceramic low-density composition, the material is far lighter than any other composite. When used correctly, it can be used in buildings to provide good thermal comfort and reduce the usage of energy. With the help of this product, you can uniquely design your house. It is also easy for carpenters and painters to work on, thus allowing your creative ideas to flow even further.

Both of these fibre cement sheets are easy to install and use. Thus, they are materials which should be used more frequently. They also give your building a unique feel. Utilising materials such as fibre cement can lead to a more sustainable future and for buildings to last longer than just a few years.
