Remote Jobs To Consider This Summer

Whether you are a college student seeking some real-world experience or a stay-at-home parent looking for some extra cash, a summer job is a great way to stay busy and learn new skills. Best of all, thanks to new technology, you can work right from your home. Here are some remote jobs to consider.

Freelancer

There are many different types of freelancing positions that you can do from your house. You can work as a virtual assistant or transcriptionist. You can even do remote video editing.

Many companies offer freelance writing positions, as well. These businesses often offer flexible hours and let you decide how much or little work you want to do.

Pet Caregiver

If you love animals, consider getting a job as a pet-sitter or dog-walker. People who work in offices need someone to keep their pups and cats company during the day.

Summer is also a key vacation month, and not everyone can take their four-legged friends on trips. Let folks in your neighborhood know that you are available an alternative to crowded  boarding facilities. Consider advertising your services by hanging flyers or posting in local Facebook groups.

Tutor

Parents do not want their children to fall behind academically during the summer. Many thus sign their kids up for online classes. If you have tutoring experience or just enjoy instructing others, you should see if your local school or educational organization has positions available. This is a particularly great option for those interested in becoming professional teachers. You can focus on a specific subject such as mathematics or English as a Second Language, or you can provide test preparation services.

Marketer

Many marketing jobs can be completed from home. In fact, you can send emails, write news releases and create content from practically anywhere.

Microtasker

A microtasker is basically a person who gets paid to do easy, short tasks such as proofreading documents or answering surveys. Some microtasking jobs require you to work just a few hours each week.

Social Media Specialist

Are you constantly checking your Facebook and Twitter pages? Put your social media obsession to good use by running a company’s online accounts. The business will appreciate the help, and you will get valuable marketing experience.

Researcher

If you enjoy reading through pages of information, look for a remote job as a researcher for a professor, corporation or news organization. This entry-level position simply requires an internet connection and a knack for summarizing data.

Bookkeeper

Bookkeeping jobs are also solid options for those who love working with numbers. There are plenty of these positions available since businesses of all sizes need people to manage finances. You can even start your own bookkeeping company and offer your services to various organizations in your area.

While most work-from-home gigs are great opportunities, there are some people  who attempt to take advantage of remote jobseekers. Before you sign any contract with a potential employer, make sure that you are not being scammed.

Any jobs that claim to pay lots of money for minimal work are most likely too good to be true. Being constantly pressured to take an offer is another red flag. You should also avoid supposed recruiters who will only contact you via email and online chats instead of agreeing to video or phone calls.

Scammers often try to trick you into sending them money. If the employer asks you to pay for an account, buy a gift card or do a wire transfer, you should cease contact with the company immediately. Remember that no legitimate business will request your bank password or ask you to send personal information via email or Skype.

You no longer need to commute to an office or spend hours outdoors to earn money during the summer.  The above remote jobs should help you build up your bank account without leaving the house. Just be sure to do your research to avoid getting scammed.
