Whether you are new at running a business or a seasoned executive, it is vital that you pay attention to your team's productivity. Here are some ways to ensure that your employees are productive, while still enjoying their time at work.

Break Them Into Teams

There are a huge number of advantages to implementing teamwork in your place of work. When you are putting together groups of employees, figure out who will work best together based on strengths and weaknesses, as well as personalities that will mesh well to get a task or job done in a timely and creative manner. Teamwork also helps employees work with others who they may not have gravitated towards naturally, and offers a chance to exercise conflict resolution skills as well.

Have Food and Drinks Available

One of the biggest office perks that employees love is a kitchen or break room that is well stocked. Not only does this help them to get more work done due to not having to leave the workplace, but it also can assist them in staying on track with health goals, such as better eating habits. You can make easy changes that will benefit everyone. For instance, if you have an espresso machine, try finding a low calorie mocha or a healthy cappuccino recipe

Create Goals and Incentives

Employees work best when there is a group goal in mind, as well as incentive to meet that goal in a timely manner. When you are involved in the conception of the goal or overarching group mission, you will be able to also think of incentives that will prompt your employees to work more efficiently to meet. For example, you can have small benefits from completing chunks of assigned tasks, and you can have a bigger reward for finishing the project as a whole.

Do Team Building Exercises

Although they may seem cheesy or like a waste of time, exercises and outings to build your team's camaraderie are incredibly beneficial for workplace productivity. Many exercises of this nature are meant to foster trust between team members, which will make it easier to delegate tasks during a group project. They are also a way to get out of the office and have fun together. Try to plan these types of outings on a regular basis, so you can give your employees a refresher on the pillars of teamwork, and everyone can take a break from pressing work responsibilities.

Acknowledge Their Hard Work

One thing that employees emphasize time and time again is that they are more likely to remain loyal and give their best work to companies that value them. Therefore, make sure that you are always letting your employees know that their work is important at every level of the company. If you have team meetings, you can acknowledge them during that time, or offer them a certificate and reward for going above and beyond. You should also focus on the positives of their work when performing yearly reviews or analyzing work done over a period of months.

Give Them Workspace Flexibility

Some employees thrive in a cubicle or an enclosed desk area, while others work best from home or in an open office space. If possible, you should emphasize to your employees that you will work with them as much as possible in order to accommodate their need for work-life balance, in order to be as productive as possible. Thanks to advances in technology, it is now easier than ever for teams to work together from all over the world, and share files or discuss issues without having to be in the same room.

You do not have to take great lengths or complicated measures in order to make your employees more productive. With these tips, you are sure to be able to cultivate employees that will be loyal to your business, and still care enough to work hard for the company.
