What are floor plans? How to execute a floor plan?

Floor plans are generally thought of as the first step in designing home or office environments, but these fundamental diagrams are used for many other purposes. Outdoor spaces need a plan as much as indoor environments. Floor plans designed with professional floor plan software make it easy to check if the space is appropriate for its intended purpose, analyze any potential issues, and redesign before moving into more elaborate planning and construction stages. It can also be fun to experiment with different layout alternatives and circulation flows, showing how people move through space.

Architects always talk about space. With the same space, you can create a masterpiece or cause a mess. That's why, whether we have to build 'little houses' or make a convention run smoothly for attendees, a proper floor plan is required.

Seven steps to creating a scaled floor plan for any space

Whether you're using paper, pencil, and graph paper to make it easy for you to scale, or using an online or offline floor plan making software, such as Foyr Neo, one of the leading 3D design software, to draw a floor plan, there are a few essential steps and elements that go into creating a well-structured diagram.

List the requirements

Make a comprehensive list of the needs and wants of those who will occupy the space. Organize your floor plan with all the components in mind.

Measure

Do you have the right measurements? If possible check the measurements twice, so that you can draw the final floor plan without any mistakes.

•         The exterior walls or surface of your space, any entrance or access and windows,

•         The walls from side to side and from floor to ceiling,

•         Where electrical outlets, switches, and other controls are located,

•         Each and every one of the architectural elements, including chimneys, brackets, shelves, benches and any other built-in element,

•         The surrounding space and the exterior or general dimensions of these elements, and then locate each one on your plan,

•         Objects that will be inside the space.

Define the scale

Floor plans should be drawn to scale, which means reducing the size of your drawing so that the entire space will reasonably fit on a sheet of paper or screen. A common scale is 1 cm = 1 m. The same scale should be applied to objects such as furniture or display booths to be included in the floor plan.

Consider lines of sight

When sitting, standing or working, what do you want to see? Consider windows, doorways, walls, and whatever makes the most sense for the space's intended purposes.

Evaluate

Review the list of wants and needs. Evaluate spatial arrangement, including circulation analysis. Other factors include usable space, privacy, and accessibility. Learn here more about evaluating the planning and design of space in residential spaces.

Share

Collaborate and ask someone to review your floor plan for valuable feedback to rethink your views and the layout.

The characteristics of hyperrealism in virtualized 3D spaces allow taking real photographs prior to the construction of the project, clearly defining the dimensions of the rooms. Reliability in the process of choosing the materials, making modifications to the interior design at the same time as the building or home project is being developed, as well as the possibility of incorporating furniture from brands and suppliers with the that the final project will tell.

So, now that you know the importance of a good floor plan and how to do it, it is time to put them in practice.
